Nigel Northeast
- Cabinet Maker

n an area renowned for centuries for its craftsmen, nestles the workshops of Nigel Northeast and his team. The skills are assured of a lengthy future, as apprentices are trained in the traditional manner, with everything from hand cut dovetailing to
final hand polishing being undertaken.

Only solid timber is used in construction, veneers are for decoration only, for example; curled mahogany on table tops and door panels or cross banding in various woods.

They pride themselves that every piece they make will become an Antique to the future.

There is an extensive stock of traditionally dried timber, indigenous to the area and recovered from the great storm of January 1990, furniture is available in a choice of English Hardwoods:

Oak
Ash
Walnut
Yew
Acacia
Sycamore
Sweet Chestnut
and Cherry

Imported timber mainly being Mahogany, other exotic timber can be used, subject to its availability.

Nigel and the team are quite happy to be briefed on a one-off commission to your design and finish. Items range from dining room suits, libraries to small occasional furniture. Presentation pieces have become something of a specialty and Nigel will be only to pleased to show you examples and photographs coupled with a guide of the workshops. Dining sets from several made to order designs, the copying of an individual chair to complete a set, or restoration and re-polishing of Antiques are everyday occurrences at Nigel Northeast's.
